Originally Calibre Advisory Group, the firm opened its Sydney office with a different mindset to most business advisors and tax accountants – we wanted to be genuine Asia-Pacific business experts. We built a team of tax accountants and business advisors who not only had the in-depth and broad range of skills to offer exceptional services in Australia, but who also have genuine experience in China, Korea, Vietnam and entire Asia-Pacific.
1.Preparation of compliance assignments for clients including income tax returns, business activity statements, fringe benefits tax returns, payroll tax returns and any other state and federal statutory returns.
2.Preparation of special purpose and general purpose financial statements.
3.Performance of ongoing client accounting assignments both on and off site. This includes bookkeeping, management accounting and KPI reporting.
4.Be able to document and reference all work that allows the reviewer to follow and understand the workings.
5.Be able to train accountants and graduates in relation to best practice work papers and referencing.
6.Contribute to maintaining best practice work papers by making and implementing suggestions and updating for statutory or profession wide changes.
7.Ability to perform the above mentioned tasks with minimal rework.
8.Ability to perform reviews of compliance assignments prepared by accountants and graduates, where required.
9.Ability to identify commercial, business and tax issues with respect to the completion of the assignments at 1 to 3. This includes knowledge of financial ratios and an ability to interpret these financials based on the knowledge of the client’s business.
We expect that in your position you will have a basic understanding and be able to apply solutions in relation to the following tax and accounting issues
10. Division 7A including identifying where it applies, advising clients on how to manage Division 7A loans and payments and calculating minimum repayments.
11. Preparation and analysis of franking accounts including knowing what constitutes debits and credits and when they apply.
12. Preparation and lodgement of Consolidated Income Tax returns including completion of consolidated losses schedules, preparing consolidated profit and losses and balance sheets.
13. Be able to follow the process relevant to performing ACA calculations.
14. Accounting for hire purchase and lease liabilities including the initial and subsequent recognition,
15. Ability to reconcile accounts of all types including bank accounts, debtors, creditors and GST amongst others.
16. Ability to identify what types of expenses are deductible and non-deductible for tax purposes including repairs and maintenance, legal fees, donations, entertainment and marketing expenses.
17. Understanding and applying all types of small business concessions including simplified depreciation, stock recognition, prepayments, FBT exemptions and CGT concessions.
18. Ability to recognise and advise in relation to the state and federal tax implications relevant to contractors and subcontractors versus employees.
19. Ability to perform margin scheme calculations for GST.
20. Ability to recognise GST free and input tax items as well as GST registration requirements.
21. Preparation of cash flow statements
22. Ability to calculate pre and post-tax remunerations including ETPs and salary sacrifice arrangements.
23. Ability to work out whether salary sacrifice arrangement is beneficial to the client and their employee for FBT purposes.
24. Other than the above, demonstrate and apply knowledge of all relevant technical tax and accounting technical knowledge with respect to the completion of the above tasks.
Other Basic Skills
1.Proficiency in the following accounting packages:
a.MYOB (all versions including online) / b.Xero / c.QuickBooks online
2.Proficiency in the following office packages:
a. Word including formatting documents.
b. Excel including basic formulas, if formulas and information sorting abilities (e.g. pivot tables).
Special Assignments and Research Skills
3.Ability to perform research with respect to complex tax and accounting issues.
4.Ability to undertake or assist with the completion of special assignments relating to tax, accounting and business advisory.
5.Ability to understand client business and identify the key risk and success areas for the business.
Communication Skills
6.Ability to deal and communicate (orally and verbally) with clients and the relevant government organisations such as the ATO, The OSR and WorkCover in a professional and courteous manner.
7.Ability to prepare written communications such as emails and letters with minimal re-work or review points from managers or directors.
8.Ability to communicate (orally and verbally) with fellow staff members and consultants in a professional and courteous manner.
9.Ability to provide ongoing training and guidance to senior accountant level 2, accountants and graduates.

13. Understand the firm’s internal systems and processes with respect to administration, billings and client service delivery.

Qualifications and Experience
15. Chartered Accountants or CPA qualified (i.e. successful completion of the CA program or CPA equivalent)
16. At least four to six years’ experience in a public practice firm working on business services and compliance assignments.
